The Anabolic

biological type

The THERMIC type, one of the three primary body types in traditional medicine and refers to the individuals tend to have a strong digestive fire, a medium, athletic build. This body type is associated with a balanced metabolism and the tendency to gain muscle mass and strength easily while maintaining a moderate level of body fat. They generally respond well to both weight training and cardiovascular exercise, and they can typically adjust their body composition more easily compared to other body types, gaining or losing weight without significant difficulty. However, they need to maintain balanced eating habits to avoid unwanted fat gain. It's quite common for individuals to exhibit characteristics of more than one body type. Your genetic makeup plays a significant role in determining body type. Diet, exercise, stress levels, and sleep all influence how your body expresses its natural tendencies. Your body type can change over time with certain lifestyle habits or adjustments, so it's important to reassess periodically.

Evaluate your physical build and compare it to the characteristics listed above. Do you tend to maintain a stable weight, even when your eating or activity habits fluctuate? Do you find it relatively easy to both gain and lose weight with moderate changes in diet or exercise? Is your body build naturally balanced — not overly lean or overly heavy? Do you gain muscle fairly easily without excessive fat gain? Are your shoulders and hips proportionate, giving your body a more even, athletic shape? Is fat distributed fairly evenly across your body, without strong accumulation in one particular area? Do you have steady, consistent energy levels throughout the day (without extreme highs and lows)? Does your digestion generally feel reliable — not too fast, not too slow — with only occasional issues?

  • Pitta (Ayurveda), Choleric (Unani Tibb), Mesomorph (Somatotypes)

  • Breakdown > Build-up

This type is driven by high metabolism, cellular turnover, and mobilization of energy reserves.

Hot: Prone to heat symptoms (e.g., inflammation, redness, irritability)

Dry: Easily dehydrated; dry skin, hair, stools

Light: Often lean, wiry, or underweight

Mobile: Active mind/body, prone to restlessness and overexertion

Sharp/Intense: Strong focus, fast digestion, quick reactions

Clear: May have piercing eyes or clarity of thought—but prone to depletion

  • Body Frame:

Medium build — neither overly thin nor overly stocky.

Shoulders and hips are proportionate — body tends to have an athletic, balanced shape.

Limbs and torso are in good proportion — neither short nor overly long.

    Muscle and Fat Distribution:

Moderate muscle mass — builds muscle with reasonable effort, but not excessively.

Fat is distributed fairly evenly — no major concentration in hips, thighs, belly, or upper body.

Body holds a steady balance between leanness and softness — not extremely defined, but not overly padded either.

    Weight Tendency:

Weight is stable — tends to stay in a comfortable range without drastic fluctuations.

Can gain or lose weight with moderate lifestyle changes — no extreme resistance to weight loss or weight gain.

  • Energy and Digestion:

Consistent, steady energy levels — fewer crashes or extreme fatigue episodes.

Good stamina — can handle physical activity without quick burnout.

Digestion is smooth — not prone to sluggishness or excess speed.Appetite and thirst are moderate and consistent — neither extreme cravings nor poor appetite.

    Temperature and Environment:

Tolerates heat and cold reasonably well — adapts easily to changing weather.

Comfortable in a wide range of environments — not strongly heat-averse or cold-sensitive.

  • Thermic-Catabolic dual type: Athletic build but tending toward dryness and quick burnout under stress. Digestion becomes fast or irregular easily.

Thermic-Anabolic dual type: Strong, balanced frame but tends to gain fat easily if lifestyle is off. Can build muscle well.
